November Snapshot (1) with GT Studios Photography – What happened to October!

Welcome to the GT Studios Monthly Snapshot. A chance to keep all of our wonderful GT Studios People – clients, models, collaborators, and friends up to date with the latest news and happenings.

I started my last snapshot by saying that Spring had finally arrived – well I have decided that we no longer have the perfect season but four seasons in a week and sometimes in a day – as I write this (on the 21st of November – only  9 days out from Summer) I am listening to pouring rain and howling winds. The great thing about that is no matter what the weather we don’t let it stop us giving you the best photo experience possible! I no longer look at the forecast but adapt to the conditions on the day – we often end up with the most amazing variety of photos – my new moto I think will be – go with the flow!

Face of October

Each month this year we have held a Face of the Month Competition but for October our focus was entirely given to our Fundraising effort for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Instead of having one person feature predominantly we followed the Frocktober themes. More on this later…..

Published

Our clients have been busy getting themselves seen in more places than our web page, Facebook and Instagram accounts! We have had our photos featured in Madison Fashion Magazine November Top 25, The Face Issue Volume 1 and Volume 2.

Congratulations to Zoe for making Top 25, congratulations to Alexia,  Mackenzie, Makenzie, Jemma and Zoe for featuring in the Face Issue.

Once again we were spotted by Faces Magazine, this time with Hannah’s photo being featured on the European (Swiss) Fashion Magazines Web site! We are very excited and grateful to Faces Magazine FacesBeauty for the feature. Congratulations Hannah! You can vote for Hannah here but hurry – only until November 23rd.

Hannah and Maddy

I would like to congratulate both of these amazing Ambassadors who have now signed with Finesse Model Agency. We are so proud of them and wish them well in their modelling career. We like to see our clients and ambassadors as part of the GT Studios Family so to have watched the confidence and skills of these girls grow so fast through this year has been such a treat. Well done girls! All of our Ambassadors have done so well this year. The Ambassador programme has been so much more then we hoped for!

Frocktober

By mid-September our Frocktober preparations were in full swing. One of the first people I asked to be involved was the lovely Emma Schulz from Elouise Designs. A first year Fashion Design Student at Adelaide Uni, I first discovered Emma on Instagram. Something about the way she designed, wrote about her work and studies peaked my interest and I knew she was the designer I wanted to highlight on our Fundraising journey. So, one evening, while waiting for Graham’s flight to land from an interstate business trip I decided it was now or never……. The rest is history as they say! Emma is a delightful young girl with a bright future – she has a young, fresh, range of clothes which was exactly what I was hoping for. She also hopes to do costume design and I hope we have an ongoing relationship between her amazing couture skills, Graham’s photography and my creativity we might be able to give you some amazing fantasy experiences next year!

We arranged a meeting to see Emma’s range and we did a photo shoot with Emma which was fantastic! Unfortunately we found out that Emma could not be at our Fundraiser Event as it was her sister’s wedding day!!!! I understood if Emma wanted to pull out but she continued to support us and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation throughout October with posts on her Instagram too!

We also had an awesome Ambassador day where the girls (and their parents) put in an afternoon of planning at our place and then lots more of their own time to help prepare for the day.

With posters up, venues booked, it was down to the runway, music and dance prep – the girls loved choosing dresses to wear and as well as wearing the range from Elousie Designs we were very grateful for the generous donation from Rasheedah at Chicque Boutique who loaned us a huge range of clothes to wear on the day!

A dress fitting there and a dress rehearsal and we were just about ready. We opened the runway event to past clients and the general public and we were so happy to see some of our previous girls return for a fun day that raised money for such a great cause. I think we saw some models in the making too!!!

A massive thank you to Melissa Sandercock who gave a very educational talk about the signs and risks related to Ovarian Cancer – Melissa was able to dispel some common myths and reinforce some truths. Lots of positive feedback so if only one person seeks medical advice early enough then it was a worthwhile venture!

I have so many people to thank, the Gawler Uniting Church gave us the Hall Hire at an amazing rate – everyone who donated to the prizes, Hissey Electrical, Silhouette Hair and Beauty, Brereton Jewellers, Tanunda Hair and Beauty, Gawler Academy of Dance for their dancers, many private donations too – both in donating money, items and volunteering their time  – thank you thank you thank you! Our wonderful Ambassadors and their families gave so much time and money to this event – so grateful! Clients, friends and family – thank you!

We raised $1635 – a lot of hard work from a lot of people – thank you to everyone who donated on the day and on our My Cause page.  The person with the largest donation on our My Cause page won a free photo experience and they will be contacted shortly!!!

For a look at the Frocktober Fashions you can check out our Instagram feed – we continued the theme at our Runway event too. A serious cause but lots of fun!

If you would like more information about any of the information in today’s snapshot please contact me. We also have some gorgeous new products available for a limited time – Christmas printing deadlines are approaching rapidly so please don’t leave it to the last moment!

Keep an eye out for our next Snapshot in the next few days!!!!!

July Snapshot GT Studios Photography

Oh no – that can’t possibly be the date – are you sure it’s August?

July has flown by for us here at GT Studios and has probably been one of our busiest months ever – far too much to mention in one newsletter!

We are so grateful to all our wonderful new clients and the support we have had from their families as well as the amazing support we continue to receive from our Ambassadors and their families, our followers on Instagram and Facebook and the many Accounts and Pages that have featured our photos over the last month. The feedback and comments we have received lately have reassured us that we do what we do for all the right reasons. We love what we do – and when your work is your passion it really doesn’t feel like work!

Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that could have changed your life – we have received some heart-warming feedback this month about the changes we have helped make in the lives of some young people – perhaps we can change the life of someone you love too! Building self confidence and self esteem is so important in today’s society. Our beautiful Teegan art work (our top feature image on our snapshot) is a huge 75cmx100cm frameless matte art image and has had such an impact on our clients as they enter the studio that people are telling us that they are actually dreaming about it! That is the effect that large scale wall art can have on people and why we urge our clients to have their beautiful work printed and go as big as their space permits – this action is a lasting statement of loyalty love and commitment to their child.

As always we welcome you to the GT Studios Monthly Snapshot. A chance to keep all of our wonderful GT Studios People – clients, models, collaborators, and friends up to date with the latest news and happenings. By the way – what do you think of the new lay-out? We seem to have lost our galleries – but hopefully by our August Snapshot we will have them back!

  • The Face of July – Winter

For our Face of July we felt it was appropriate that we celebrated winter – even if I don’t really like winter! I was surprised at the amount of applications – who knew winter would be popular!

Goodbye to Autumn

Our Face of July – Mackenzie – Goodbye to Autumn

We chose Mackenzie as our winner this month. She presented an amazing application – she answered all the questions that I asked. She gave enough detail without going overboard. She was believable and sincere.

Red Berries

Face of July – Mackenzie – Winter – Red Berries

Her original plan was to have a friend with her but due to circumstances beyond her control she attended the photo shoot without her friend. As teen and tween portrait photographers we were fine with this as we were able to give Mackenzie the attention that we would give our usual clients. We planned the session in detail and captured many aspects of winter – we even managed to incorporate some snow, Christmas and hot chocolate!

Christmas Wishes

Face of July – Mackenzie – Christmas Wishes – Christmas in July

When Mackenzie returned for her Reveal and Select session we asked if she would do us a favour and do another little mini session as I had been able to find some beautiful red berries for a winter head piece. She jumped at the chance! She showed such enthusiasm and worked so well that we asked her to stay a bit longer and do some model work for us that evening. By the end of the night we were pretty sure we wanted to invite her to become part of the team! After a chat with the other ambassadors we were delighted to contact Mackenzie and now we are very excited to say that she is our 7th official GT Studios Ambassador. In the months ahead we will introduce you to each of our ambassadors.

We have already showcased images for July on Instagram but these are just a few in case you missed them! You can follow us on Instagram at www.instagram.com/gtstudiosphotography

  • Christmas

On the topic of Christmas – did you know it is less than 5 months until the big day!!!! It is never too early to start planning your Christmas Gift List or that Christmas card list either.

At GT Studios we believe that receiving a beautiful personalised Christmas card is so much nicer than an sms or digital greeting – it shows you have put in some thought and effort. We also believe that customised wall art or a carefully planned album is one of the nicest gifts you can give to someone who holds a special place in your heart. Have you thought about a gift from GT Studios – it might be for a parent, grandparent, or child. We also offer gift certificates so if you know someone who would jump at the chance of one of our photo experiences then a Gift Certificate is the perfect option.  We will be there on every step of the journey – whether it is to plan a photo experience or plan an album or choose which photo to place on your wall. Let us help you this Christmas! Don’t leave it too late to order – quality takes time!

If you have had a photo experience with GT Studios now is the time to have a look at your proof sheets and choose which of those beautiful photos you will choose as your Christmas Gifts and cards this year.  Of course we are happy to help you choose – just call and we can discuss your images with you. If you have misplaced your proof sheets give me a call and we can arrange replacements.

If you need a new photo experience for your Christmas Photos your experience must be before the end of October to ensure delivery for Christmas! August is now fully booked.

  • Magazines Arrived

As I mentioned last month – we had some of our beautiful girls featured in Issue 10 and Issue 11 of Madison Fashion Magazine. Our copies arrived in the mail and of course it turned in to another mini photo shoot! We even had a live session on Instagram! Did you see us live? It was lots of fun!

  • Photo Experiences

July has been a month full of variety and creativity when it comes to our photo experiences. As well as our Face of the Month for July which had a winter theme we had the Face of August which we did the photo session for during July. We met two delightful young girls who showcased their favourite eras of fashion ‘70’s, 80’s, and 90’s! We also had the beautiful Miss M take part in the “Model for a Day” experience and Miss A came to update her model portfolio.

Model For A Day

Model For A Day

We were treated to some amazing dance sessions this month with several solo and group dance experiences as well as a Family photo experience and a Fine Art Experience with a Fantasy feel.

Portfolio Update

Portfolio Update

The weather was glorious for Emi’s portfolio update and we captured some awesome moments! We missed out on using the dress she ordered as it had not arrived so when she came back for her reveal and select session we did a mini photo experience and she looked amazing. Emi was really not very well that day but she still worked like a true professional.

We also had a chance to work on a photo experience with 5 of our 7 ambassadors ….. sssshhhhh!…. I can’t tell you about that – it’s a secret – watch this space and I will tell you all about it in the next newsletter!!!

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers And Lace

With a brief appearance of Spring I thought it was a great time to showcase some of the beautiful new items in the GT Studios wardrobe.  Today’s selection is from the “Flowers and Lace” collection. With neutral cream tones and a hint of Spring Shades as highlights, these dresses, hats and floral crowns are perfect for the Spring Photo Experience sessions that we still have available.

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers and Lace – Spring Collection. Neutral tones of cream with delicate embroidery in shades of Spring.

Both plain cream and floral dresses are available in an assortment of sizes. Some with fine embroidery or sequins others with tulle or organza. All with some sweet little feature to make them special.

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers and Lace – Spring Collection. Delightful Spring Floral Crowns that perfectly match the tulle covered dress.

We have several floral crowns, head bands, hats and other accessories available that are a perfect match for these dresses this season and I am really looking forward to seeing them in the upcoming Spring Photo Experiences.

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers and Lace – Spring Collection. Sequins and sparkles for that special occasion.

While the floral dresses and accessories are perfect for an outdoor photo experience the more formal dresses often lend themselves more to a studio session although the sequins do look amazing when they catch a bit of sunshine!

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers and Lace – Spring Collection. Sunflowers and Daisies make the perfect floral crown.

There is an option to have a floral crown hand crafted with love for your unique photo experience if you would prefer to have fresh flowers or you can choose from the ready made collection.

Flowers and Lace - Spring Collection

Flowers and Lace – Spring Collection. We have many hats to compliment our dresses.

Hats and headbands are just as popular as floral crowns.

Dance the Day Away

Black & White or Colour

Do you have a preference for Black & White or Colour photography?

This is a question we ask when we are helping our clients custom design their photo experience. The answer will help decide the colour of clothes, the setting and even the style of photography.

It also depends on where the artwork is destined to hang – what the decor of the room is, what size it will be and whether it will be presented in a frame or as an acrylic or other presentation. However, sometimes it just comes down to personal taste and it is often nice to see the same image in both black & white and colour.

The image featured on the blog today was published in the “Gallery of Refined Art” Children’s Photography Wing this week. We chose to submit it in black and white.

I was really keen to know peoples opinion and so posted both a colour and black and white version on to Instagram to see the response – you can check out the numbers by going to our Instagram account.

I am always amazed how a different crop can completely change the look of a photo too – but that will be another day’s blog!

It’s Winter – What if it Rains?

As we approach the middle of June we are still being greeted with the most glorious of sunny, blue sky days – I can hardly believe it is Winter. The reality  is  – we can’t ever be sure of the weather when we book a photo experience, no matter how much planning goes in to the session the one thing we can not guarantee is the weather on the day.

Sunshine and Blue Sky

Mikayla and the Sunflowers

Many people are put off by Winter but in fact some of the most beautiful photo opportunities come at this time of year. At the moment there are still the end of Autumn scenes to be had so if you get in quick you may just get that photo surrounded by golden toned crunchy leaves. If you leave it for a few weeks you can be all rugged up in winter woollies – looking as snug as a bug! If you take a look at some of the other posts you will see I have a passion for parasols – umbrellas look just as good – if you get caught in a shower it doesn’t really mater!

Wow! Christmas in July!

Wow! Christmas in July!

The alternative to an outdoor photo experience in Winter is to book your session in one of our studio opportunities. We have two studio set ups that give quite different outcomes. Depending on your dream for your wall art and imagination we can set the studio accordingly. Christmas in July is always a popular option!

Pretty as a Picture

Pretty as a Picture – no need for props – a studio session where less is more.

If you would like to discover more about what GT Studios can do for you call Karen or Graham today. If you would prefer we call you simply go to our contact page and email us with your contact details and a little bit about what you might be interested in – we would love to chat to you soon.

The Vintage Beach Experience

We don’t often do Beach Experiences but when everything comes together and you get gorgeous little girls in beautiful vintage styled dresses in a magnificent location you can guarantee some amazing wall art will be produced. This was the case on this day. We have now released the first three in this series.

Sea Spray and Lace

Sea Spray and Lace

The gorgeous girls were sisters, the dresses were from Dollcake, a Melbourne, Australian based company and the scenery is one of our picturesque South Australian Beaches  on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Vintage Holiday - Girls on the Beach

Vintage Holiday – Girls on the Beach

All of our photo experiences start with a pre-session consultation. This is when we are able to come together as a team and discuss themes, colour, style, location and let your heart do the talking. As artists we understand the need to be creative.

Girls on the beach - Holding Hands

Girls on the beach – Holding Hands

As a Boutique Studio we want you to be completely immersed in the process. This investment is not just a photo session it is a work of art for you to cherish for a life time, it is an experience, a memory, and we want you to love every minute of the journey as much as we do.

Invite us in to your home today for a photographic journey like no other you have experienced. Call Karen or Graham today.

Planning Your Photo Experience

At GT Studios we love getting to know you before your photo experience. The best way to plan a photo experience is by meeting with us and telling us about your dreams for the photo you have in mind. We offer both indoor studio experiences and outdoor natural light experiences and we discuss all the options when we are helping our clients create their perfect photo experience.

Princess Moment – an example of an indoor studio portrait

Sometimes all you want is a beautiful simple portrait for your wall. Sometimes you want to create an amazing themed experience with fancy dresses, floral crowns and props. Your imagination is the only thing that holds you back! We would love to offer you a chance to experience this. No matter how simple or grand, together, we can create beautiful art for your wall.

Picnic in the Sunflowers

Picnic in the Sunflowers – an example of a photo experience with the lot! Props, floral crowns, secret location!!!

Call Karen or Graham today to schedule your planning consultation.

Angel in the parkland

Not always dressed in a dress!

I can’t deny it – I love when our clients ask if their cute little girls can “dress up” in some of the GT Studios wardrobe for their photo sessions. We have an ever growing supply of beautiful dresses, tutus and various props. However, not all our clients want to wear dresses!!

Every girl loves to dress up

Every girl loves to dress up

Sometimes they just want to be dressed in their play clothes and that’s ok too! We were able to capture some beautiful moments during this photo session. Angel had already been dressed in some “girly” dresses, a tutu, and her highland dancing kilt. We had taken some indoor shots and then progressed to the beautiful parkland area outside to capture some natural light images.

Heading out

Heading out

If it is time to update the family photos or capture some special moments while your little cutie still wants to dress up contact Karen or Graham today and let us help you design the perfect session to suit your needs. Together we can create beautiful memories that will last forever.

Birthday Cake

Cake Smash! (part two)

So for those of you who have been following the story, here are the rest of the images from Ella’s Cake Smash…….

Let them eat cake

Let them eat cake

Once Ella realised the cake was indeed for her she decided she would try some of this sweet sticky offering!

Is this raspberry?

Is this raspberry?

Not sure whether she liked it or not, she was prepared to give it a few attempts before deciding that she would rather keep her cake than eat it or smash it!

Can't keep my cake and eat it too!

Can’t keep my cake and eat it too!

After consoling took place Ella was again a happy little Princess and finished the session on a high note – no doubt a sugar high as well as an emotional high! Not to be left out the family pets all had a chance to check out the cake – keep an eye on face book for those images soon!

Sugar High

Sugar High

When you make contact with GT Studios we like to know a bit about you and let you know a bit about us. A pre-session consultation helps us understand your expectations and lets you know how best we can achieve a great outcome. This ensures happy and satisfied customers!

Birthday Cake

Cake Smash! (part one)

There are many milestones in our lives, lots deserve to be captured as special moments and preserved as treasured memories for the future. A first birthday is one of those milestones and a great way of capturing the moment is with a Cake Smash photo session.

Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake

We had the pleasure of joining the gorgeous Miss Ella on the weekend and helped her capture this milestone with some amazing images! I wont lie to you – it was not all laughter and smiles – as the pictures will reveal – but the end result was an experience that Miss Ella and her parents will always remember and hopefully cherish.

Birthday Girl

Birthday Girl

The session went through the full range of emotions from shy, quiet, reserved, surprised, unsure , guilty about playing with her food, satisfaction of feeling the cream between her fingers, joy about not being told off then crying because she couldn’t eat her cake and keep it too!

Surprise!

Surprise!

Ella is a gentle sole – she did not smash her cake as some one year olds would. She cautiously touched the surface and was not too sure about this whole experience. However, the milestone has been reached, she has had her first birthday and we captured the moment for her. Thankfully she will have many more “firsts” and hopefully we will be given the opportunity to capture some of these too!

Getting Smashed!

Getting Smashed!

If you or someone you know has a special milestone in the future let us help you to make memories that last by Capturing Life’s Momenets – contact Karen or Graham today – any age is ok for a cake smash, any “first” is a valid excuse for a photo session – don’t let the moment pass and live with regret! We offer a pre and post session consultation as part of the service.
