The Wayville Market had its grand opening on the long weekend in October. It was our first ever market experience as Stall Holders and although Mother Nature turned on the worst weather possible we and an amazing bunch of other Stall Holders braved the weather and set up for the Sunday and Monday.
We had no idea what to expect – we did our research of course – but nothing really prepares you for the experience – you just have to be there – throw yourself in and become fully immersed in the atmosphere and energy of the day.
We were there as casual stall holders and the intention was to have our stall out on the lawn – it would have been beautiful except for the torrential rain and gale-force winds that were forecast. Thankfully, Mark, the Market Manager was able to accommodate all of the casual stall holders indoors – a saving grace for all of us!!
The Wayville Market is held every Sunday and Public Holiday Monday from 9am till 4.00pm. The permanent stall holders are in the Cattle Pavilion at the Adelaide Show Grounds and weather permitting the casual stall holders will be out on the lawn!
We were lucky enough to be surrounded by the most amazingly friendly and supportive people on the long weekend in October. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Wayville Market yet you should make the effort to pop down on Sunday and check it out! It’s free entry, there will be live music and some awesome stalls to check out.
